wiesenstrasse 5, 38102 braunschweig - 0531 337271 (http://vierlinden.de/star...) is a somewhat boheme restaurant/ bar, in keeping with its neighborhood ãstliches ringgebiet with a very mixed local crowd. nice and laid-back atmosphere and a kitchen that stays open till past midnight make this venue a hidden gem.
Tiziano
Arguably some of the best Italian ice creams north of the Alps can be found at Tiziano (http://www.eiscafetiziano.de/). They serve their home-made ice cream at three parlors in Braunschweig. Their branch at Schlossarkaden also serves Italian food and wine.
Kim-Kim
Very popular with the nightlife crowd is Asian eatery Kim-Kim (http://vietanh.vi.funpic....). Located on the party mile next to club Schwanensee and usually packed on the weekends, they serve their meals to go.
Pizza Room
If you can, please visit or order from Brunswick's Pizza Room Sophienstr. 12, 38118 Braunschweig - 0531/22 56 131 (http://www.pizza-room-bs.de/). This pizza parlor consists of only one room hence the name, in which the owner and chef toils away while making pizzas to order or to go. Recommended: Pizza Montaverde.
Zum Gemütlichen Conny
A definite Brunswick original is Zum Gemütlichen Conny Diesterwegstrasse 1, 38114 Braunschweig - 0531 54150. In the glorious days when local soccer club Eintracht Braunschweig reigned supreme over the Bundesliga, this was the hangout for players and fans alike back in the day. Dubbed Hähnchen-Conny, their succulent roasted chicken is prepared after a secret family recipe now in the second generation. To-go phone ahead for pick-up or traditionally served with home-made potatoe salad don't dare ask for French fries!. Despite its status as a dyed in the wool Brunswick original, it is one of the few places in Braunschweig where Härke, a rather bitter beer from neighboring Peine, is served.

Turkish-German dish Doner kebab places can be found all over town like in any major German city. Most renowned for its Doner are the Bohlweg Beyti Grillhaus (http://www.beyti-grillhaus.de/ and Kebab Haus), Tandir near night club Merz, and the Dönerdreieck Doner Triangle - Mesopatmien Grill, Güney Grill, Olive, and others wegded in between the downtown shopping district and the red light district.

Highly recommended with very, very typical Braunschweig cuisine comes Mutter Habenicht (http://www.mutter-habenic...) Papenstieg 3, Brunswick - 0531 45956, tucked in behind the Braunschweiger Landesmuseum Brunswick State Museum. Very typical Braunschweig cuisine and very friendly and communicative staff. English menus are available. NB: Smoking is permitted in this restaurant. In order to avoid the smoke, ask for a seat in their beer garden all the way through the restaurant, and then to the left.
Schadt's
When in Brunswick, do not miss Schadt's (http://www.schadts-brauer...) Marstall 2, 38100 Brunswick - 0531 400349. Restaurant with German cuisine, famous for their home-brewed beer. A Braunschweig classic!

William's Dorfklause
ohlenhofstraãe 11, 38120 braunschweig timmerlah - 0531 86 04 03 (http://www.williams-dorfk...) serves germany's largest schnitzel. eat two of those monsters 1.5kg /3lbs each and you plus 20 of your friends eat and drink on the house. located a little outside the city center in timmerlah, but definitely worth a visit, not only for schnitzel enthusiasts.
El Gaucho

Tandure
(http://www.restaurant-tan...) is an upscale anatolian restaurant, located in the building complex 'artmax', close to the 'volkswagen arena'. among its regulars has been the turkish ambassador to germany. reservations highly recommended.
Haus zur Hanse
Hotel Haus zur Hanse (http://www.haus-zur-hanse...) features an excellent restaurant, which has recently been remodeled into a top-notch steak house.
Gewandhaus Restaurant
altstadtmarkt 1, 38100 braunschweig - 0531/24 27 77 (http://www.gewandhaus-bs.de/) serves german cuisine in the city's old cloth hall. the restaurant itself is located in northern germany's oldest vaulted cellar.
Naske
Acclaimed Naske (http://www.naske-gastgebe.de/) offers a pretty international yet selected menu bison burger next to Vietnamese duck curry and Southern rumpsteak in peanut sauce. They also serve their own beer Naske Dunkel.
